360 GLT Suspension

Post by Jaspersilus » 09 Sep 2010 09:57 pm

Hi peeps,
I was just wondering what the difference was between my 88 GLT suspension, and the standard suspension on say a GLE.

I understand that the GLT is about an inch or so lower, but what makes it lower? shorter springs and shocks?

I keep seeing cheap rear and front nos shocks on ebay, it says they fit 340 and 360, springs also, do these also fit GLTs?

please help, as Im collecting parts for my resto, also can bushes still be bought, or are classicswedes poly bushes the only option now?

cheers
Jason

its just the rear leaf springs that drop the car lower on GLTs dude.
All 300 rear shocks will fit fine as theyre all the same size.

Cheers VND,
so the front isnt any lower ,just the back, so there cant be much difference in the actual ride and handling then?

No mate. Front springs are shorter too. Possibly stiffer?
But again, shock size remains the same as all others.

Yes Classicswede is the only option for bushes. I've bought the 4x spring set from him, but still need the spring hanger and rear radius arm bushes, no solution for those at the moment. The big radius arm one that gets knackered looks pretty standard I'm hoping to find an alternative or similar part somewhere.

On the height issue, most of the aftermarket front springs don't differentiate for the GLT, and we had a bit of a measure session with our cars a while back and we are still not sure what the ride height should be exactly. Classicswede can order any ride height for the front.
