Knackered calipers

Post by Ride_on » 24 Apr 2011 12:05 am

Well my calipers are pretty stiff and the brakes were not working too well when I last moved the car. I'm restoring it, so they will be brought up to a good spec.

The Budweg calipers seem pretty cheap at about £50 delivered each, and I could easily spend that with an overhaul kit including a new piston nevermind the work, so it would be nice to get a new set, but are they as good as the originals? Would I be better off overhauling the orginals?

Should also mention I do have some other less corroded spare calipers that might also do, but I would have to clean them up, spray, check rubbers etc.

If you do get new's, try to keep the olds incase we ever do have them dry up!

I got some from my local friction shop (Kimber's Friction in Southampton), they didn't work out too expensive from memory, around John's price.

Caliper rebuild kits (along with master cly rebuild kits) have dried up in the UK, too many people were putting the seals on backwards... Poland was the last place I got some shipped from.
