now thats stating that audi 100 brake pads are the same as 300s does that mean the calipers are
also does that mean it could be a way for easier brake upgrades i havent a clue so thought i ask

They may well be the same caliper, there wasn't a huge amount of stuff used at that point and sharing components was done a fair bit.

Thing is, if they use the same pad, then it won't be an upgrade as there is only a finite amount of piston you can fit behind it ;)

Aye Chris is right. I looked into pads n stuff yesterday, and found the audi 80 caliper is pretty much exactly the same as the volvo one from the same period. I did however find that black diamond are starting to do clutches on demand, custom made, for fast road, up to full on paddle clutches. Good to keep in mind if doing a valver swap with more power.

i didnt mean using the audi setup
what i meant was if they did a big brake upgrade for the audi in theory that would fit the volvo
but i do understand what you mean

Whilst the caliper might be the same, there is nothing to say the caliper carrier is :(

It's worth a look, I certainly wouldn't stop you from checking incase it did bring something up!

Maybe we need to try and start compiling a list of calipers which have a carrier that has the same bolt spacing as the one of a volvo 340/360 hub. I have a few calipers in a cupboard in my shed I'll try and mesure them and put the info up here. It might be a bit like the lotery, although even maching Dimmensions might not be enough.

I for one have a little bit of fear when in comes to trying to make bits of one car fit another. I'd love a kit that would just bolt on. Im sure Im not alone thinking "I'd pay good money to buy a ready made brake upgrade kit for my Volvo".
I think the lack of such a thing is part of the reason Ive taken a bit of a holiday from the car currently :(
