343/5 calipers - twin pot?

343/5 calipers - twin pot?
Hi all, just browsing through the haynes manual as you do when there's bugger all on tv and its raining. And i just noticed that it pictures the early mk1 343/5 cars as having twin pot calipers? as apposed to the mk2/3's with the single pot sliders? Is this right? If so, are the earlier calipers any better than the later ones? And would it be a simple bolt on swap if i could find a set and some disks? Or would it be a waste. I was also looking at volvo 240 estate front calipers as they were 4 pot standard Reason is, even though i've never driven my 340 i want bigger brakes to take the pounding there gonna get As i've heard even with upgraded pads, disks, fluid after a while on these road rallies people are sill getting brake fade? Any help appreciated Thomas................

Hi Tommy, I think you're missing something here.
They are not so much twin-pot and having two pistons opposite each other instead of one on a slider. They're pretty crap IMO too! (They also have small area pads.)
Twin on a slider / four pot fixed might be handy though.

I don't, even with the F7R on rallies! I do do lots of fluid changes though, every 6 months or so. I found the biggest thing that made a difference to brake fade was technique. If you are constantly trailing the brakes, yup, it fades.
