rear wheel bearings

Post by DaveGuy46 » 03 Jan 2012 11:14 am

Hi,

Im replacing the rear wheel bearings on my 1989 340 it has the type with the 2 bearings in the hub.
Can u fit the 1 piece bearing in these hubs and if so is it better ?

Unlikely they can be changed in the hub, the hub is designed differently, but I thought the 89 should have been a 1 piece dual row bearing. There is a couple of good threads on how to change this, not easy but doable with basic tools. I have spare circlips if you need them.

You could probably change the hub if you don't have the right type.

Actually just reread that thread, damn good it was :)

You can't change the hub type it seems, but I am guessing you have the later one anyway.
