HOW MUCH BRAKE FLUID?
HOW MUCH BRAKE FLUID?
I bought a Gunson Eeziblled "one-man brake bleeding" kit today at Halfords as Im not too good with cars. Im guessing it'll flush all the old brake fluid out and not just the possible air locks? If this is the case how much replacement brake fluid will I need for the entire system on a 1988 1.4 volvo340?...

Re: HOW MUCH BRAKE FLUID?
You keep putting new fluid in the top, so it never dries it completely or lets air in the system. Don't let the resovoir(sp) run out during the process or you have to start all over again.
A whole car shouldn't use much (less than a 1L bottle) however, if during the process of diagnosing you find problems and keep having to bleed certain parts of the system you can use quite a lot. First time I fixed the brakes on a car (i.e. when I first get a 300 and havn't got into my own brake service schedule) I've gone through 3L before, but that was on an extra specially broken car.
So, no clear answer. Brake fluid doesn't keep, it "goes off" on the shelf as it sucks in moisture from the air.

Re: HOW MUCH BRAKE FLUID?
The easybleed uses a reservoir bottle connected to a tyre for pressure, and its hard to know how much to bleed out to flush. If you are lucky the fluid will be a different shade, but I'd go for about 1/2 jam jar out for each front side and maybe 2/3 for the rear. I guess it depends on the size of the jar
Its pretty easy to use alot of fluid with this kit, but 1L should be enough, just keep checking the reservoir.
