Re: how do i adjust the handbrake
You should have an self adjusting thingy in the drums of your car, i have never needed to adjust the handbrakefrazeb wrote:i havent tried at it yet but i thought id ask before hand to save any faffing

Or, im guessing the adjuster is right behind the handbrake if that need to be adjusted
War isnt about who is right, but who is left
Re: how do i adjust the handbrake
On B14 models up to 1982 the adjusting nut is inside the car at the rear of the handbrake. On late B14 and B172 models the adjuster is on top of the gearbox, or primary unit on auto versions. On B19 models the adjuster is between the exhaust pipe and prop shaft. Turn the adjuster until the rear wheels with the handbrake pulled up 3 to 4 notches on B14 and B172 models and 5 to 7 notches on B19 and B200.
Before doing this make sure the brake shoes are fully adjusted by pumping the footbrake several times to operate the self-adjusting mechanism for the brake shoes.

13mm socket, lay next to the car on the drivers side, reach above the prop right by the front of the gearbox and you'll feel it. No need to jack the car up when you know where it is sort of thing.

Re: how do i adjust the handbrake
Yours will be on top of the gearbox. 3 - 4 notches up on handbrake.
If it's your first time it would be better to put it on axle stands, both rear wheels up, so you can check when the wheels stop turning and makes it easier to find the adjuster.
