has anyone converted a 360 with pas to non pas? ive had aload of problems with the power steering due to some nob threading the fittings on the pipes, so ive decided just to get rid of the power steering,

i have a spare manual steering rack here anyways, only problem is were it bolts to the steering column its differnt to the one on my 360,
this is the fitting on the manual rack: Image

and this is the fitting on my 360: Image

is there abit that bolts to the manual rack and then to my column? or dose it need a none pas column? sorry if its been covered but nothing seems to come up when i search for some reason,

also ive been haveing a problem with my steering pulling to the side, but it seems to change from pulling left to pulling to the right when you go over bumps to of pull harsh turns, theres nothing bent that i can find and ive been and had the tracking check and they said the tracking was spot on so im stumped now,

cheers

GAH!!!!!

give me ps pieces now!

lol na my manual rack on my daily started to fail so i was like ah ps time but i too have encountered the steering column problem. and i have misplaced all my brackets and mounts. turned out to be a swear word full day so came home and did an oil change in the dark on my other car.

I may do however need before mentioned bits.

I had a manual rack but it tossed a balljoint and split the rubber up the steering column so thought why not go pas? i had a setup in my spare room anyways. but I've lost the universal and the mounting plates. atm its taking up space at my friends workshop so could you let me know asap please?

I have PS parts, rack/pump/tank, but no column. Also both types of down pipe in good nick. No plans to use PS or spare down pipes. Going turbo anyway.

I'm guessing you'll have a UJ further up inside the car, if thats the case you'll need something to go between the rubber bit and the UJ. The bit I've got would fit the Rubber vibration damper you have but probably wouldn't reach the UJ.
I'd say get a peice of ~3mm steel plate say 15mm wide 50mm long, drill the two holes and find bolts to bolt it to the rubber damper, Once that's done find some bar of the right diameter and that reaches the UJ, At the UJ end it has two sides flattened down that slot into the UJ. Then weld this to the plate mensioned before, bolt the plate to the Rubber damper and then clamp the end with the flattened sides into the UJ and hey presto it should work.

Unless you can find a bit that fits, I'll have a look at the parts catalogue - What Year is your car? and what year is the Manual rack?

I might do the 2.3T swap like you have but will be at somepoint in the future. If there's room for the exhaust i might keep the PAS :)

logan will let you know as soon as mate,

dont need to make one anymore, managed to pick this up today Image
looks about right size, dose it bolt straight to the rubber bit? (ie theres no plate that goes inbertween it or something?) take its meant to move abit with the rubber as a damper?

found this when i took the rack and subframe off today

anyone any idea why its catching now? it wasnt before i first took it off, couldnt be something to do with the pulling to oneside problem could it? also would fuked top mounts cause that problem?

cheers

Is there no b230ks without power steering? Does the belt not just run the power steering pump?
