Front coil springs - Replacement

Post by kelvingenders » 08 Oct 2012 09:13 am

Does anyone know when these need to be replaced. My 360 GLT seems to be very noisy at the front. I have replaced all parts, bearings, track rods shocks etc, but there is still a big thud when I go over bumps. Could these be knackered, or is this just the model!!

Chances are the springs have sagged. What shape are your dampers in? Worn out dampers will cause a rough ride.

What are teh roads like where you are?

Do you have bump stops fitted? Is the thud from the spring full compressing?

ARB link rods? The later versions with ball joints attached under the spring plate do get worn after 100K or so and clunk over bumps.

I can't imagine it is the springs unless they are broken, even then it should just drop.

Have taken the ARB link rods off. The car is much, much, much quieter. I'm replacing the poly Control arm bushes with rubber ones. I think this is also where a load of noise is coming from. Problem solved with money ...again
