Refurbishing Alloys

Post by 360beast » 04 Jul 2014 09:42 pm

I got my alloys straightened out and the kerbing removed but the centre spokes have scratches and some minor gauges and was wondering what filler to use before spraying them silver.

Anybody done it before and got any tips or advice on any specific fillers?

I'd use a self etching primer on Al, then a normal primer to fill out scratches. If they are deep then a high build primer.

I've used chemical metal before to fill cosmetic deep gauges/scratches which seemed to work fine, as always time spent in prep will make the finish better...!

Thanks for the advice guys, they aren't too deep.

I found this on ebay, what do you think?

That's the only photo I can find of them but the scratches are around the centre and quite long.
