it's been a while since my last post on this forum.

This time I am in need and I would like to ask, about steering rack. I need to replace it (old one is not suitable for renovation anymore).
I can not find correct one. I am looking for steering rack to my 1980 car (MK 1). In the internet-store here in Poland they have only for Volvo 340 82- (younger than 1982). I have found on eBay proper one but it was for right-side steering-wheel cars.
Below is the photo of my steering rack. I think this is this "T" type I read somewhere about. And my question is:
Are the steering racks in "younger" cars different than mine? Should I look for 1980 exactly?

I am fairly certain you can fit the later rack. The main difference is the T bar on the later rack is fixed as where the early one is removable. The might be a couple of mm difference in length

The only problem would be fitting a earlier rack to a later car as you would also need the removable T-bar to fit it. Fitting a later rack to an earlier car doesn't appear to be a problem.

i see a few cracks in the rubber connector piece where the steering rack is bolted to the rod that goes to the steering wheel, that might be the cause of the loose steering

So I will order the later one. I will try. At least I can send it back if it will not fit.
