Post by volvoman » 01 Sep 2015 01:52 am

Hi there,

I'm wondering if there some other rear wheel cylinder fitted on Volvo 340 except those for Ford Escort , Capri

I see no drum.

I see a wheel cylinder.

This is a drum:

Now either you shouldn't be working anywhere near a braking system, or something has been lost in translation (should your native tongue not be English). As we've had no introduction, I've no idea whether it is the former, the latter or both. :?

My usual parts website lists 3267314 as being suited to Capri III and Escort II (as well as 340s) so you're probably right ... Just don't go for a Volvo 360 part, these are different due to the larger drum.

Cheers

All my search attempts to find this wheel cylinder failed it's quite rare even master cylinder and brake booster I had to alter it with Renault one so I'm currently looking for some other part to fit in with some modification

My local parts factor lists TRW BWD101 for 19 mm bore (shows a picture that looks like a 340 one) and BWF132 for a 20.6 mm bore (shows a picture that looks like a 360 one)

A TRW site search gives:
http://www.trwaftermarket.com/en/catalo ... D101/#Tab4

and a quick google shows:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TRW-BWD101-Whee ... B00DPI7EG2

But check yourself to be sure, plus I've never used the seller so normal buyer beware etc

It should be no trouble sourcing a brake cylinder for a 340. In addition to Chris's TRW number, also try:

ATE 24.3219-0903.3
Ferodo FHW026
Bosch 0 986 475 500

Would there be much trouble if one uses 340 cylinders on a 360, or vice versa?

I don't know but from memory they are different and the rest of the setup (self adjusters, etc) is different... Presumably for a reason known to Volvo/DAF !?!?

V360 brake drums are bigger. I can imagine it's not so great to mix the two ...

They are not compatible, the slot for the 2 ports are at 90 degrees between the 340 and 360.

And even if you physically made it fit, the rear bore is different on the two cylinders and they travel a different distance with the different mechanisms, so you'd likely have a very strange pedal even if it had enough fluid to move it.
