Handbrake spring cup

Post by benji1985 » 28 Feb 2016 10:36 pm

Hello all, while I was dismantling my rear axle I undid the hand brake cable in the process the little plastic spring cup decided to fly off very fast and lose itself.

Does anyone have a spare one of these?

Thank you

Hello Ralf,
Thank you, I'll order these soon, there is a lot on this site I would like, do you run/own this site?
Are larger items OK for postage to the UK?

I can vouch for the seller as well! Very helpful, very quick, postage a little steep but you can't have everything ;-)

Cheers

If someone wanted to do a scribble with the important dimensions I could draw it up for 3D printing.

You took the words out of my mouth! I was thinking of doing this part but i was worried about the shear strain on it.
Do you have a 3D printer, i have just sent some CAD drawings of to be printed.

Just for everyone elses benefit, these days once you have a solid file (STL) you can use any of thousands of printers on-line for a few quid a go. Something like this would cost about 50p per unit in PLA + GBP2.50 setup charge. Whether PLA would be strong enough I don't know, but I can't break it with fingers. Cable might wear through eventually.

Tinkercad is a good place to start, everything can be created from there to do your design and share it. This then links to a hub service like 3Dhubs. You can download to 3Dhubs directly if your have generated your design elsewhere.

Hi,

just another idea...

I used the spring holder washer from the brake shoes rear and a plane washer just a little more in diameter.
Then cut into both from side to center with a 1mm disc with a grinder...

Image

Think this would do....

The deepening in the upper part centers the spring and will not allow the cable to come loose.
