Cutting coils is not a good idea as you will end up bottoming out all the time. You could use 360 ones and cut them down for a 340 if you wanted to.

how about cutting a about 20mm of shortened springs?

I was wondering this too Dai, as my springs are now a fair bit stiffer do you think I could get away with chopping a coil off? Another item i've seen is by a company called Grayston who make spring assistors for caravans etc, in Halfords i found a set of spring compressors/assistors which could be used to hold the coils apart or clamp them together so i was wondering if this could work? just adjust the ride height by tightening the bolts, they also have leaf spring assistors on their website, i emailed for more info a couple of months ago but got no reply,

Just been onto the grayston site, www.springassisters.co.uk and they've added an application list which includes the 340/360, no idea how much they'd do but theyre £65 including vat and p+p,

most of the stuff on there site is to stiffen springs which usually raises the vehicle slightly , I have the rubber assistors on my toyota lucida to help with towing our folding camper , they stop the springs from bottoming out, I remenber there spring clamps from the 70's / 80's ( Mk2 cortina lower the front jack up the back furry dice , those were the days LOL ) they did just clamp two coils together and slightly lowered the car by about 15/30 mm

You could use a small peice of bar and bolt to clamp the spring down.
All you need to do is drill a hole in a small peice of flat bar, drill a hole in the spring cup put the plat in position and bolt it down.

DON'T CUT lowering spings. Tell me how you want it to sit and I will make them for you.

I have a set of those rubber rings in my front springs. I have not tested them to the max yet.
Niveau-plus
It did not raise the car as they are exactly as thick as the space between compressed but unstressed windings is.
I am going to cut one or two windings of the front spring and add another set of those rubbers, maybe two... :mrgreen:

AND I just bought me a set of These little babies!
Not to cheap, but not expensive aswell.
I bet these parts will make a great suspension upgrade!
I already have adjustable Koni's at the back so the rear end is almost covered. Just not lowered it yet.
Those blocks Adam made look nice and will do the job I think.
Together with this air aided system I can adjust my rear suspension on the fly as long as I have a footpump.
It has a Life long guarantee... just as the rubber rings do...

One of the guys in the 360NoModenaCup has stock shocks, stock coils minus 2 windings, 3 sets of Niveau Plus rings, and the autoballans system.
His ride is almost rock hard and he is the fastest car on the track.

I have come up with the figures for the springs. THe only thing is to give the height you wanted for the new engine your current ride height would be the same. Obviously the springs would be a lot stiffer and improve road holding.

How much will these front spax be when they are done and what spec would they be? Adjustable damping, ride height etc?

Not hade the price 100% confirmed yet. I am thinking of offering fixed rate and adjustable. Spax are have bump/rebound ajustment. I will try and also offer short damper for mega lowering.

Will they come with springs though? If so i acn have lower springs now for the 1.4 and change to the spax with new engine!!

The spax will not come with springs. One thing to bear in mind is the spax will stiffen the ride and may lift the front very slightly. I sure you could sell the 1.4 springs when you are done with them.
