Today I put my hands on a pair of rear red adjustable Konis for my 340 1.7
I will install them soon, in the hardest setup, I hope that the rear will be stiff enough.
Now at the front.. Maybe I can get a pair of front springs from a 340 diesel.
Are they any stiffer than the ones in my 1.7?
Does anyone know where can I find a pair of front konis?

Dont put the konis on the hardest setting what ever you do! Start them in no more than half way position - This is VERY improtant.
The easy way to stiffen the front springs (as shipping will cost you a lot) is to use 360 springs cut down - they are probably stiffer than the diesel ones.
Konis for the front are very hard to find.

Why shouldm't I put them on the hardest setup?

Ok not so bad if they are not new. I would still recomend trying them on the half way and see how it feels.
If you set them to full from new you can amage them - even make them burst.

If the konis are any good set to full they will make the car very skitty on the back and also make the rear wheels slide. Set to an intermediate position they should make the car very poitive and hold the road very well.

I know what you mean but you want it to be a slide that you cause not one the car causes by itself at some random moment when your not ready ,
in over words you want to be in control of the car
and not the over way around

I'm pretty sure Ali still has his (used) Konis on the stiffest setting on the rear of his 360 - not sure what it's like in the wet, but I'm sure he said it really wasn't atall that bad and you still had to try to get it to slide...

If you are only using them for drifting then setting them somewhere near the maximum setting will be fine.
If you want some degree of grip to and from then turn them down.

I happen to think they make the car fun to drive, and my rears are at full -1 turn. It will slide very easily in the rain, but I also found it to be really easy to correct with a bit of countersteering (as opposed to my ae86, which will bite your head off if the slide catches you off guard).
Havent had much problems with it otherwise.. slides reasonably well in the dry too. Lucky for me it grips well with the fat 13x8's + slicks on trackdays.

Let's see how it goes.
With the stock suspension, most of the times the inside wheel starts do spin alone and the drift attempt ends there.
let's see what the konis do

Standard protocol for ALL cars with front struts and solid rear axle:
DOUBLE THE FRONT SPRING RATE.
Damping: increase rebound setting to suit. For example, get a pair of Koni and wind them up. Probably about 50% to 60%.
Consider trebling the spring rate. (Been there, done that. 210lb/in+)
The effect should be awesome traction, because of the relative compliance of the rear, and superb controlability. Lots of fun.

Yeah mine are set to full, not a clue what they're like at any other setting as I installed them like that and never looked back lol, they do make it fairly stiff but theres still grip there in the wet even with a welded diff, just have to make sure your aware of it and not drive like an idiot
