Brake question (keep this on the low)

Post by hatch360 » 17 Jul 2008 01:37 am

Sometimes when I do a bit of heavy braking (nothing hard really) I noticed that the dash Break light lightes up for less than a second first i thought it was a shortcircuit as the first time I did it the handbrake light doesnt work anymore but......................................I was briefly doing 180 :? and i tapped the breaks twice and it lit up what could this be?

Check your fluid level. It has a warning light when it gets low.

brake fluid squashing around will trip the low level sensor occassionally; it starts when braking.

after a while it blinks up more often, also in corners etc.

check the wear on your front brake pads first. If those are still of enough thickness; (friction material at least as thick or thicker than the baseplate)
top up the fluid level.

if the thickness is not enough, you should leave the fluid alone and plan replacement of the pads. fluid will follow afterwards.
