how often do the large rubber strut top mounts need changing??? and how will i know if they are buggered??
and could someone please send me a clear close up pic fo what they are meant to look like?

If there is cracks, they are probably gone. Inner part where damper goes trough tends to broke off from outer part leaving visible gap between inner and outer part. This leads top spring cup to get contact into surface above, rendering strut bearing useless and this is what makes steering heavy.
