Leo Wheel Refurb
Leo Wheel Refurb
Ok so i finally got the time to start on the leo's i got from sven. and i must say im happy with the results, even tho i have done wheels before these were in a lot worse shape The original plan was to get them sand blasted but id heard about people getting good results from nitromors so figured id give it ago, and wow this stuff is strong, got a bit on my arm and forehead and it burnt like crazy.
Anyways i got the goods to start and some safety gear
Then got the wheel outside as i didnt think my mum would appreciate corrosive materials in the house lol
Id also tried to saw the tyre off but got bored and tired so stopped
Any ways first coat of nitromors on
Let it do its magic
Tip - Dont use the moose stuff its not very good the paint on stuff is amazing, and to remove the nitromors rinse the wheel excessively with cold water with detergent in, pretty much what it says on the pack.
After about an hour of painting it on then scraping at it and a whole lot of wire brushing the paint was gone and i was seriously tempted to just polish them up but there are a few patches which need filler so couldn't
Splashed on filler to the scratches and curb marks
Sanded all the excess filler away to leave a smooth finish using wet and dry paper, 1500 grit and some rough stuff which was 200 grit or something like that, used the 1500 grit to prepare it for primer.
Masked up ready for primer
And the final result, just gotta get the other 2 done and then decide on a color when i get the fourth from stevep
The whole process took about 3 hours which and cost about 15 quid for nitromors and a fiver for primer so alot cheaper then getting them sand blasted.
So what you all think?

Choosing the color is the hardest part as im not sure what color the car will be after the summer. i was tempted to go white like my currents but with a black center bit(not the spokes) then i was tempted to go maroon, but im thinking of just going a really bright/light silver or grey(like type r wheels) for time being, but now the hard part is over changing the color down the road wont be very hard.

Good job you've made on them i reckon. I've been told that if you put the Nitromors on then wrap the bit in clingfilm it apparently makes the paint come off a lot easier/quicker as it keeps the vapours in rather than them escaping so loosing half of the Nitromors power.
I've not done it myself but it is supposed to work, might be worth a try?
Easiest way i've found when using it is be liberal with it, slap loads on then once the paint starts bubbling load it on again and let it do it's stuff.

Woah dan. Looks egg-sellent.
Can't believe how clean they came up.
Good work fella.
Think they'd look the absolute balls in black or White like.

Good balls, like the balls of a dog.tommysb wrote:Good balls or bad balls?
Not bad balls, like the balls of a Turk or Rat.
Re: Leo Wheel Refurb
WTF-why didn't I do that?
Super shiny, extra really shiny with a bit more shiny silver should be the order of the day.
Or of course Ford diamond white always looks good
