Saxo VTS shocks???
Just wondered how useless these things would be for a 340? They are nice and stiff!
The total length is 585mm and the diameter is 45mm. Can anyone tell me if they'll fit the Volvo, given these dimensions.
Cost me £20, and never been used.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
They should fit i think. The length of a 300-series shock is 600mm extended and 465mm when fully pressed-in. Diameter is 44mm. Check some pictures and measurements i took on:

Thanks, this does look promising.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Is this intended for the front, or the rear?
Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Front I think, as there's about 3mm of travel on a saxo on the rear.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
I got them for the front. Im going to give the Landrover shocks a go on the back.
I would much prefer to use the SPAX adjustables but Im trying to stick to a small budget. Need to do the clutch first anyway.

Any updates on these?

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Those won't fit the volvo strut tops BTW. I think you'd need to make some adjustable top mounts from escort ones, or get the damper rod machined to go through the volvo top.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
By the look of it the bottom will be too fat to fit as the 300 series one has a step in it to fit.

^^^ You mean the slightly narrower bottom 15-20mm? Noted, I have some ready to be fitted to VND's 360 I could accurately measure if that'd help anyone.

I'd love to know the measurements, just before I loose it and set fire to these VTS ones.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
I've fitted one to VND's car hand tight so I'll drag it back out and get the digi calipers on it before I torque it up.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
What are the stiffest shocks that people know of for the front? I'm changing the springs, and think i'll just go with the 'more viscous oil' trick. But it would be good to know if anyone's come across a stiffer 'off the shelf' part, as eventually the oil shocks are going to wear out. It would be preferable to have some stiff gas ones, like the 'gas a just' on the back, which seem to be just the ticket.

What do you need to do to make escort adjustables fit, just out of interest?
