Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
The escort struts are way way longer. They would be ideal if you want to make a 340 monster truck
The adjustable dampers that I do will be the stiffest thing you can get. They will adjust from very soft for gran to rock solid shake your spine to bits and anything in between.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Quinton Hazell Lip Gas Tec shocks? I've got them fitted in the back of my 360 GLi (albeit ones for the Volvo 300). Stiffer than the originals (well, they would be after 20 years' use) but hardly race-spec. At least, my fillings are still all in place.mrsoundcraft wrote:Just wondered how useless these things would be for a 340? They are nice and stiff!

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
So any updates on this then? Im hoping to lower my car next week while Im not working, just not sure what the original front shocks are going to be like, although going by my current standards I'll have enough trouble just trying to work out which socket to use

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
You can get KYB Gas-a-justs (or whatever it is...) which fit right into 300 series struts. They won't be super-stiff, though. I have a set on the shelf, so I can dimension them if that would be useful...?

I'm not so sure the kyb gas adjustable ones are available anymore Just the normal and slightly stiffer kyb gas ones

I'd love to know the dimensions of your KYBs foggyjames, Ive got some bits from Adam to try out, maybe If I give up on my dream of owning a Celica GT4 I'll be able to spend more money on the Volvo and just get the Spax setup

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
I'm happy to measure them...but...I'm about to go to bed, and I'm not going to be around for a week or so after tomorrow. I might have chance tomorrow night...post me a reminder tomorrow!
Steve...you're most likely right. I called them gas-a-justs, but they're just normal gas ones. I thought that was KYB's name for them, but I'm most likely getting mixed up in my old age
cheers

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
KYB used to do gas-a-justs for them which definitly were adjustable, but I've not seen them anywhere for a long while. The non adjustable (but slightly uprated) ones are called Excel-G's.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Yeah, you're absolutely right - those ones I bought from the place you mentioned to me were Excel-Gs.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Hopefully that's of some use. The diameters (except the base) are a bit of an approximation, as I couldn't find my caliper gauge...so I had to measure round and divide by pi.

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Thanks for the measurements. That makes my saxo ones quite different
Ive given up on the idea, atleast they were only £20.
Anyone got a saxo thats a little soft at the front??

Re: Saxo VTS shocks???
Well the landrover shocks wen on easy, so maybe that was the "easy" part (see one of my pointless topics for details).
But I have no Idea how it drives because I cant seem to get thrust bearings. The car is pretty much just sitting on its front legs an wheels as I collect all the bits to do the front, rather that building and re building it 5 or 6 times.
