airconditioning + steering aid for b14 combined?
since this morning i not only have an original V300 B14 LHD airconditioning kit but also an original B14 LHD steering aid kit!
i have the separate crankshaft pulleys lying here:
on the left the airco pulley, with the airco belt placed in front of the original alternator + waterpump belt. on the right the steering aid pulley, with the 2 belts placed behind the original alternator + waterpump belt, so the belts + mounting points will work out fine
combined kit will fit, since steering aid pump is placed on the right side of the engine and the airco on the left side of the engine.
however i was wondering if a combination of both was ever factory delivered? i'll probably have to create a custom pulley to run the 4 belts but was just wondering if it's factory possible to have a b14 with a 4belt pulley on it

Re: airconditioning + steering aid for b14 combined?
Congratulations on finding those rare pieces of kit!
A/C was an option from around 1981 for the B14, but PAS was never "officially" sold for the B14 as far as I know. It's not in the accessory catalogues and the parts catalogues only list spares for 360s (B200 K/E/F). I've only ever come across it on 340s as a dealer-fitted extra, not as a factory option.
That would make a combination of the two very rare indeed. With the stock power output of the B14 I can imagine the power loss to be pretty noticeable. Not that that will worry you with your turbo project

Re: airconditioning + steering aid for b14 combined?
thx tom
because of the slight power los, not forgetting no more room for airco unit in front of radiator it's not for the turbo but for my '89 340. that fully stock b14 is probably high in top 3 of dutch v3c most freshest and powerful stock engines since i worked on that. combined with the cvt; i think it will stay a fun car to drive. my dad wo will be using it for a daily if i get the 340 turbo ready will very much enjoy these rare items!
oh and both options are original mk3 since i personally took everything off the cars they could be dealer fitted though, since the airco wiring was a big mess. i didn't even bother to bring that along; i'll make a new harness for that. the steering aid kit will work instantly if i refresh the fluid; the airco is a different story since it was completely empty. need to take that to terberg to pressurize the system, probabably gonna need a few new parts for it but if that will be the case i'll see if the terberg terminal products will fit; makes it a whole lot easyer for me!
no time at the moment to start this up; i'll post a new topic with finished result in the near future

I would quite like the sight of a stalling engine when you turn on the A/C and make a turn

Re: airconditioning + steering aid for b14 combined?
tiny update; just sawed 2 aluminium blocks (1 in case i screw up). ø160mm and 100mm long
now i'm gonna draw the 4belt pulley and use the drawing as a guide.
2 separate pulleys for measurements is a bit too tricky
not planning on finishing the pulley this week though!
i need the steering aid kit out of the way soon, i keep tripping over those hoses
