And use high tensile bolts...
when pissing with mine, i got one out, with the shaft in place, but to get the ones further back is a pain! easier with the shaft out.

£ bolts each side willcome out with the drive shaft in situ. The 4 bolt can be undobut not removed. If you cut the bottom of teh bolt off you can then remove the head. To get your new longer bolt in push it upfrom below.
I still prefer toundo teh drives shafts.

Why take of the driveshaft??? Just cut the old bolts don`t need them anyways
Saves a lot of time.. a little tip from one who has taken of the rear springs one time to many
And while I am at it, I recommend to get the leaf spring knocked down to the preferred hight instead of blocks, I had mine hammered -8cm on my daily, -9 on the drifter

I don`t exactly know what the spring company does, but they have some sort of machine that accord to the spring guy hammers down the spring. All I do is deliver my leaf springs and get them back lower for a nice price(£40 or so)
And its no mark at all on the leaf spring
Funny fact is that i got both a 2" block and the 9cm lowered leaf spring so i could use my Coilovers at the rear, they are a bit long..

you do need rear coilovers or the caravan type spring system for that mod, flattening the spring wil make the spring action a bit softer

Nah, Have you tried? Because i think you are wrong, I did not feel any difference
I did it on my daily to, it had blocks and replaced it with an adjusted leaf spring, It did not become softer. I did not touch the damper(adjustable spax i got from dai)
I drove in my garage relapsed old leaf spring and with the adjusted one and i was out driving in a matter of hours, no difference in handling, just a lower car

the resistance of the spring is width/thickness of the steel, and the parabolic shape of the leafspring
from mounting point to mounting point the distance will get bigger when flattening the spring and take the parabolic shape away so the spring doesn't perform as springy as it used to do; that effect can be counteracted with adding a coil spring near the axle mounting, or coilover the shocks.
it will make a difference, but how much / noticable i can't tell; no practical experience with it on a 300.
i do think it's an interesting mod though, i might see myself doing it on the 340T next year.

oh right that makes sense
so its only a mod if your converting to coilovers
and just usign the leaf springs for locating the axle

You could double leaf it as another option for increasing spring strength.

Im confused, are the bolts holding the axle to the leaf spring "U" bolts, like on normal cars, OR are there just 4 straight bolts? also what sizes please. thanks
