Hey, had a quick look through the fourm but coudnt find if you could use landrover shocks in the front aswell as the rear + would you use the landrover front shocks for the front and landrover rear shocks for the rear if that makes sense lol Cheers Joe :)

Hi Joe,

The only uprated front shocks are my adjustables. For teh rear you can go for my adjustables or use landi fronts

If you are doing it on the cheap then I would say sit down. The fronts are £170 a pair and rears are £130. BTW that is quite cheap for adjustable inserts.

The original springs are so soft that shortening them wont really help the handling at all. I found a good combination on a budget are some Custom Classicswede lowering springs and KYB or similar shock inserts. I would expect that all original shocks, like mine are so soft they might as well not be there. Oh, I think poly bushes at the front also make a big difference.

As far a rear shocks go I think the most important thing is that they have a threaded bit at the top and bottom, Ive got some old monroe shocks off a Range Rover. I thought I would be better with something a bit older and worn out as I was warned about the stiffness of new ones. Search ebay for Defender 90 or similar.

Mat, try asking for Quentin Hazel shocks at a motor factors or try this website, http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/. I was lucky to get some KYBs from an owner on here. There are some Monroes on ebay I think, worth a look.

I've had good results with much less than 80/90 oil. I used 35 grade i think, from memory, with 190lb springs. But you could go up a grade or 2 from that comfortably, I'd imagine.
