Does any one know if there is a difference between the gearing of a 343 82 car and an 87 340 both DLs, I'm sure I've got better lock but a slower rack on the 340, I've been thinking about swaping the racks, the 343s didn't get to crispy, I've spun the 340 a couple of time cos I just can't get enough lock on, never had a problem in the 343??

I'm reasonably certain they should be the same, if they are both 1.4s. 1.7s and 360s have different turning circles to the 1.4. Could be another cause for the spin such as bent rear axle or front suspension problems.
If you put a 1.4 rack in a 360 the tyres might rub on the anti-roll bar (not that it would fit the steering column asnyway).
If you need more lock steer with the back wheels

Unfortuatly I steered from the rear a bit to much today, straight into some railings. Dam it! Much repairing to be done. There's got to be something wrong with the car, other than everything i've bent today

Definatly not a good month! Yeah sorry I never called you joe, bit busy! It would be an insurance write of, but I don't like giving up, it's back on the road now, new wing, bumper, head light, indicator, hub, steering rack all fitted, still needs the front pannel changed but that was rotteren anyway and the front of the bonnets bent but that just means i'll do a roughish repair and matt black it, I'm suprised how strong the car is have a look at the railings coming of harwick circus on to castle way, the 3 bent ones were me.
