how low can you go

how low can i go on my 340 guys?

my alloys are on there way, (clio speedlines) 14inch 6j's. and i'm getting 175/50 tyres

which i have worked out to be smaller in circumfrance than the standard 13's with tyres lol, and works out to be about a 1inch drop in the chassis.

most people i have seen on here tend to go between 1-2inch's front and rear. yet i'm thinking of going really low, and was wondering if 3inch's is possible? or if anyone has done it?

It seems to vary from car to car but but you simply cannot get them tarmac scrappingly low and still have them driveable on our sh*ttily maintained streets because it all starts coming into contact with the floor before the car looks REALLY low if you see what i mean? Mines dropped 2 or maybe 2 1/2" on the front and my exhaust does clip the road from time to time and hits most speed bumps and the back is still stock height.

The biggest drop while still keeping small amount of comfort would be no more than 3".
The top of the inner front arch has a strange construction aswell meaning big wheels and lots of slam would mean hitting them.

ok cheers mate,

tbh i'm not really the kind of person who moans about driveability, my last car was 170bhp at the front wheels, (modified gt turbo) so over 200bhp a ton, and it got used, rubbed alll the time, back stepped out alot as the suspension was so stiff, and went through 3 sets of tyres in 8 months. so not really worried about scrapping much. lol.

and as for bigger wheels scrapping, dont think that will be a problem as in total my wheels and tyres end up smaller than stock.

Keep in mind, low wheels and 6cm lowering will destroy your damper easely. Nothing to worry about whith el cheapo landy shocks. Expensive, or rare koni's can be destroyed by a flat tire....

i only had a scan through that, dont think i can see the can answer, (i'm on lunch) but is that about a 3inch drop on the blocks? and front coilys? where from?

6cm blocks rear, front cut springs. coilovers are not on the car. (one- off, by the way) Koni dampers around, drives great, but still mucho roll..

Problem is Monka, with them having the gearbox at the back there is a lot more to ground out than on a slammed FWD car.

I'm down 2" on 175/50/13"s and it's a nightmare on speedbumps. I've scraped many things and it's only been on those rims since yesterday! Although was alread -2". 3" isn't doable as a daily IMHO. You may get away with it on 14's though.

15s "seem" to help. But then, whats the point. Car looks higher.
Think im sticking with 15ers though.

You can never win Ben, short of tubbing the arches there's no way to get a car seriously slammed and on larger wheels is there!

I like the look of both 13's and 14/15's on these cars. Both have their plus/minus points IMO. It's just sweet to see a modified 300 so I don't get picky.

lol, yeah i suppose, but depends what roads/speed bumps you go over,

most of the speed bumps around here and the normal ones that go right across the roads, so there isnt a raised bit in the middle to hit anything, and other than the entrance to mcd's i occasionly go to, lol. there is no speed bumps that i 'have' to go over.

i'm sure i'll find out the hard way though. lol

I'm running -3" on the front and so are alot of teh drift cars. That is the limit without altering the strut and alsothe trackrod ends. With -3" front springs you only have about 25mm suspension travel.

At the rear lowering moreispossible but you dont want the backend sitting lower than the front.
