Have stopped working, checked fuses/relays/switches and all seem fine, so any advice?

Thats very good news mate.990 wrote:

Always loved the look of that car and it would be great to see it on the road again.
The only other common fault ive come across in the EW are is a dead motor.
But I suppose its unlikely that both (or all) would die together.
Might be corroded connections in the door if its been stood in the elements a long while?
Might be worth giving them a look/clean up.
Im really just guessing though.
Re: Electric windows
Ah the connections in the door, that could be it, thanks for that. I will have to have an investigate (I hope it isn't both motors!)

Re: Electric windows
Welcome back!
Have they not been used for a while? The motors tend to seize up in the mechanisms, try taking the motor out of the mechanism using the torx screws and try it on a battery... I've done this on both of my 360's and copious amounts of WD40 made them work fine for a few years. Curse when you try to put the motor back in the mechanism

Re: Electric windows
Electric windows have several common failure modes
1. Switch contacts burnt - file/sand down for temporary cure, 740 in door replacement fits (not multi driver door module)
2. Motor contact burnt out, rub down communtator and brushes, replace brushes if possible
3. Siezed gearbox, very common in the water prone position. take out motor and work free with WD40
4. Worn gearbox bearing, only supported one side so quite weak if used alot, replacement only cure (I think GSF do new replacements but pricey).

Re: Electric windows
no grease?
Grease the mechanism, all moving parts and gears - make sure the window is aligned properly.. all this reduces strain on every part of the system, it's quieter faster smoother, lasts longer, uses less power....
