glueing rubber on body paintwork

On my 340 hatch I have a rubber strip on one of my doors (outside, 'anti-bump', factory-fit), that is partially loose.
What's the best way to re-glue this? (normal household glue fit for rubber e.g.)?
I ask while I reglued a rubber sealstrip in my tailgate (3rd door), relevant to prevent water-ingress, that didn't work by using such a cement: the rubber came loose after a short time again....

Maybe this brilliant forum has some advice
(coach builders glue or the stuff used on inserting glued car-screens?)

I wouldn't use anything household, the side trim I believe from the factory would have used strong tape. 3M make various products so I'd start looking in that direction! I would try and remove the trim entirely and clean the surface/trim piece thoroughly before reapplying.

Car bodywork trim tape is what you need. I got some on Ebay recently to re-do one of my boot badges. As Steve says make sure all surfaces are clean and carefully remove any residue. I think I used some methylated spirit sparingly, on a clean rag, to degrease both surfaces.
