i'm looking for electrical scheme for 360

Post by unicata » 16 Dec 2006 11:26 am

Hi, I have a problem with the fog lights. Can someone gave me the electric scheme for the light, so I can find what the problem is.

I don't have a scan of the Haynes manual to hand, but I expect someone will be along later who does.

As from your signature is says GLE, I'm assuming it's the same car. In the UK 360 GLE's never got foglights as standard, only the GLT fuel injected models. If your car is fuel injection you'll have an auxillary fuse box hidden under the bonnet, behind the wing area of the engine ba, in the UK that's behind the battery. The fuse for the fuel pump and fog lights is here, rather than the standard fuse box under the windscreen in the engine bay. Check the fuses and give it a clean up there, it's a common problem and can cause both non starting, or the cut out of the fuel injected models, or the fog lights not to work!

There is a relay mounted close to that from memory in the same area, possibly behind the wing again that operates the fogs. If you have the headlights on and get someone to flick the swtich you should be able to hear the relay and locate it. The wiring that runs down into the front valance is on crimped spade connectors, which might have corroded, or been pulled apart. Check the connections inside the units themselves, as if they aren't well sealed they will pick up moisture and dirt!

Being a non UK GLE I can't be sure of where things will be I'm afraid, but that is where I know UK GLT's to have the parts. If the fogs were fitted at the factory I'd imagine they are possibly similar to what I describe.

Pete

Edit......... Might have been a complete tool here as you said foglights I assumed you meant the front fogs! Having re-read it, I'm assuming it's the rear fogs? If so, ignore all of what I said!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean, carbed 360 GLE's as standard never got fogs, GLT's did, and like you say, anything fuel injected.

Ah right, so revert back to what I said then! That might help you track the problem down, is it a GLEi injected model by any chance?

I detected some GLT snobbery going on ;)

I agree with Pete - check the auxilliary fuse box first...it's a known for being a pain in the backside.

cheers

No such snobbery intended Foggy! Your forgetting I do also have a 340 GL! It's not all GLT's here! I was using the common rule of UK GLT's or anything fuel injected having the aux fuse box and thus fogs.
:P

The fuses can appear ok, even the connectors onto the ends of the fuse box can corrode or work loose. All worth checking.

Or your name could be Steve... and you just ignore what you see anyway, and leave me stuck in the middle of some dodgy looking estate whilst you wonder why the car doesn't work...

Good stuff, result then! Connections can be more of a problem when they are intermittent! As then you've the problem of it sometimes working and when you find the time to look for the problem it's working, but at the inconvenient times it won't work! Ah the joys!
