Saw this 360 rally/ race car in the post about rollcages...
noticed it has a single wiper conversion..... has anyone had a go at doing one of these.... from what i can remember from my golf loving mates its possible to do a home made job fairly easily!?

Never tried it, but going with how the l/h wiper pivot is mounted, should be very easy, unless you want a Merc style clean in the corners effort! Just mod the linkage and should all fall together!

Looks like he's just removed the driver's side wiper, then changed the position of the passenger side one so it covers a different area. Guessing it'll be biased slightly toward sweeping the driver's side as that's more important than passenger side when rallying/racing. Interestingly, with only 1 wiper arm, the motor will have less load, and should wipe a bit faster...

With a bit of work on the linkage you would also be able to increase the sweep.

Is there more positive points than negative points?
Arm needs stronger spring to get enough pressure for bigger blade, or you might end up with not so clean sweep.
I would be troubled if wiper would sit middle of screen all time, blocking my view

Nobody

But in every pic I have seen it sitting center position all time
Maybe it is just another style thing which are too difficult for my brain

ha ha ... dont worry about practicalities!!!
I reckon it looks quite cool.........Stems from the touring & DTM cars that all had single wipers..... have a lot of mates who are into their golfs and you see a lot on mk1's and 2's......

this was kev strongs old car, the wiper conversion is done easily by buthering whats there allready and then you can set it up as a single one, i have mine to the passenger side to not restrict vision when on the track
