Type of paint

Post by kelvingenders » 23 Feb 2011 02:30 pm

Just wanting to know if anyone new what type of paint was originally used for a Volvo 360 GLT B200E - 1986 :360:
Would it have been 2 pac, or an acrylic with a COB finish. Can anyone advise.....before I start removing paint and primer and realize i didn't need to

Can't answer the question as such, but I've never had any compatibility problems. Used Cellulose and acrylic in the past, now using epoxy resin based primer, not sure about covering with underseal over resin, seems to shrink alot. You can use epoxy at home, but not isocynate based 2 pac. I would only use a professional for colour coat now, far too hard at home.

Just remove as much as you need to get a good preparation, and pay attention to degreasing on bare metal.

I will be coating with acrylic and if needed a COB, so compatabilty problems may occur if I do not remive top coat and red 217 -rode red
