360GLS Horn/Indicator Self-cancel?

Post by Edokun91 » 20 Mar 2011 01:46 pm

Hey guys, i put a dishy drift steering wheel on my 360 a while ago and thinking about MOT i feel it's time to sort the horn and indicator self-cancelling out. On the original wheels there was a slip ring sorta thing which connected it all up. After an embarrasing situation involving trying to use it on the new wheel and snagging wires leaving the horn on in the middle of the street and me looking confused, i decided it wasn't to be, it just didnt want to fit.

Any ideas of how to hook it all back up or is it a put the old wheel back on for MOT job?

Advice needed! Cheers, Edd :360:

All you had to do was take the horn ring off the origonal wheel, grind the inner appature out a bit fith a file or dremmel, then press that onto the end of your boss. Then connect the wires.

Or get a couple of crocodile clips and a spring return button and bodge it, as seen here:

Connect clips to pegs:

Add electricians tape:

argh>.< i justfound the ring and looks like i tried to burn/melt it out the way ending with me pullin the wires off. fail. file the bit on the ring you mean yeah? Also, there are two wires which connected to each button on the old wheel (left and right horn pushes), i only have one button now can i connect one and leave the other off or will this open the circuit somehow?

cheers

Grind/file the CENTRE appature (the hole in the middle) till its wide enough to slip on the end of your boss.
Dunno about your button like. Possibly earth the other wire to the boss, that should complete the circuit when the buttons pressed. Got to be worth a try anyway man. You can do it without fixing everything back together.

right i've managed to get it all working. well the horn at least, BUT the ring doesn't want to spin with the boss as its just sort of sitting in between. just tightening it up doesn't put enough pressure on it to clamp it down if you get me. I'm thinking use some sort of adhesive and stick it to the boss??

Yeah, if youve taken it out a bit to far, super duper glue it on tight FTW.
make sure youre certain on where you want it to be before sticking it though.

Glad youre getting there dude. :D
