where is the best place to earth the battery and the engine?
i had it bolted down to the shell but i lost all the power in the battery over night so guess that isnt right?
standard its on the bonnet isnt it? i cant do that as my bonnet comes off most the time
earthing
Re: earthing
Not sure if it's the same with all models but on our 1.4 large negative lead goes from battery negative post to the body just below the battery tray with smaller earth wires connected there and continues to the engine block by the starter, all 1 lead. Bonnet has it's own small earth lead attached to it that goes to the body near the front grill.
Re: earthing
thats okay then im not losing it all out of that then must be somewhere else!!
Re: earthing
Check the boot light goes out when hatch is shut, if not it could be the wire going to the gas strut on the hatch giving problems.
Re: earthing
I first bolted mine to the sump. Didnt work, gasket in the way. DOH! I bolted mine to the side of the block, thanks to the pics you took of your engine coming out of you old car weirdly! Just below the rocker cover. (the braided battery neg lead, first to chassis, then the loose length to the engine). Again, if you want I'll try n grab a pic.
