Whats this?
Re: Whats this?
Obviously it reduces drag.
The aerodynamics of a car towing a caravan can be improved if the (air)flow that separates from the roof of the car re-attaches again along the leading edge of the roof of the caravan.
I want one - I'll be towing a 800K caravan with a 1.4.

Re: Whats this?
An aerodynamic uber spoiler to aid air flow over a caravan. Never seen one before, probably an optional extra (removable) or an aftermarket jobby
EDIT: Yes, you got there just before me

Re: Whats this?
There were loads around in the 80's apparently and a company started producing them again last year - they are called PurpleLine and are well know to the caravan industry... as they make all sorts of caravan security and safety products.
It does indeed reduce drag and clamps to either gutter/roof rails or roof bars.
I have been caravanning with my parents since I was small, I will pm you some info on a good caravan forum that I'm a mod on.
Also my Granddad towed with his 3Door 343 back in the early 80's! He had five passengers and they went all the way to Switzerland and back with a fully laden 5 berth caravan on the back and it coped fine up and down the alps with only a B14 with the 4 speed box!
1.4 towing 800kg van shouldn't be too bad... What van have you bought/are you buying?
I am looking to buy my own van soon - which is why I've fitted a new Alko towball and checked tow bar over on my 360.
Hope this helps.
Matthew.

Volvo did them for 140's, 164's, 300's, 200's, 700's and 900's - all genuine accessories. They were very popular on other marques as well back in the day.

Re: Whats this?

My van is a Sterling 2 Berth late 70's but it looks like a 4 berth, super comfy no leaks

Re: Whats this?
its a Thule wind deflector??
Same as PurpleLine one as far as I can see, the design mustn't have been patented - so many copies of it.
Found one 99p , gotta reduce drag by 5-10%?? worth 99p
