the glass part of my headlamps is badly in need of cleaning but im buggered if i can figure out how to remove it....

i can get to most of the little clips that hold the glass to the rest of the unit but the bumber is in the way of the clips along the bottom....... can't they be removed without taking the bumper off?

any info would be great

cheers

Hi mate.
You need to take the bumper off. Its an easy job. Behind the two blanking plates
you will find two bolt at either side, 13mm. Remove bolts and draw the bumper out.
This then give you acsess to the screws that hold the head lamps on.
Disconect the wiring from bulbs inside engine bay, remove screws, head light out, job done.
Cheers Mark.

if its pre 84 or so, you can just pop out the metal strip between bumper and headlight, but after that you have to pull the bumper out to access the clips. Additional to Marks comments you may also need to remove the headlight wiper arms. The bumper bolts can be a bit of a bugger so try to soak the threads in WD40 overnight, otherwise you may end up twisting the mount even though they are pretty strong.

I'd take the headlamps off first, easy enough to do, 4 screws, unplug wires, take off indicators. Be careful with metal clips, the edge of the glass chips easily if you lever the clips it with a screwdriver. The rubber seal will appear to glue the glass on, just prize off carefully.
