Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
Hi all, just got through my extra gauges and loving them I'm trying to put them into my 1.4/B14
Pressure sender - it's got the bits to fit a 360, i've looked through the blue books and the little adaptor thingy on the pressure sender is for a 360. So i need to find one for a 340, do they still sell them? Or does anyone know the threads and maybe i could get one made? Has anyone got one spare i could acquire? haha
Temperature sender - Is the sender the same for all models? Am i right in thinking it replaces the sump plug? If i need a new one, does anyone know where i could buy one to fit my engine?
Now down to the wiring, The volt meter came with some wiring, but the pressure and temp gauges have no wiring. Are the plugs that go on the back still available or could i just use ordinary spades? And looking through the blue books they just confuse me, does anyone know of a thread of some sort with how to wire these lil buggers in? In the blue books they all seem to go to a switch on the side of the gauge clusters, is this that switch that dims down all the dials?
Any help appreciated Thanks, Thomas..................

Funny you should ask that, just literally got in from taking picsmat_91 wrote:no help to you but were do they sit
Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
I can't think where my senders from my B14 are, I put both temp and pressure from a t where the pressure switch is. Did find some photos the other day, wonder where they are.

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
If i could see them that'd be great Was the T piece an off the shelf part? Or did you have to get it made?Chris_C wrote:I can't think where my senders from my B14 are, I put both temp and pressure from a t where the pressure switch is. Did find some photos the other day, wonder where they are.
Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
T piece and senders were off the shelf, I had to make up an extension piece from the block to the t piece as space is tight where the standard oil pressure switch goes. I'm sure I still have the senders, but they'll be in the turbo rather than anywhere I can get to them soon.
Will look for pictures tonight, I've a horrible feeling they are on an old computer that isn't plumbed in atm.

Okie dokie, no rush I've just found a company that look like they can supply me with the adapter i need to fit it to the B14, all i need to know is the thread on the engine, any ideas?
This is the bit im on about:

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
I'm pretty certain (tm) that it's M14, as I didn't have a tap and die for it and that's the only non standard even M size.
HOWEVER, you might well have the same problem I did, there is a boss in the block casting directly next to the oil pressure switch, meaning thicker things just dont fit. You might get an oil pressure sensor in there, but I couldn't get my t piece one.
1.7's are so much easier to sort out senders for gauges when you put your mind to it

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
If i can get the adaptor then i'll stick the oil temp sender in the sump. If it doent go in the sump plug hole on the b14, i'll just get something welded on to do the job
The adapters they sell come in M14x1.5 and looking at this picture:
It looks like its a coarse thread, How ever now i need the thread on the sender. My dad says its not metric, so any ideas what the thread is for the sender?
The one they sell is an 1/8NPT to M14x1.5 - I googled 1/8npt and it looks very fine like the sender...
What du think? Thomas............

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
That'll be a question for the redblock boys tbh, 1/8 NPT is tiny though, it's what I used. Tried measuring it?

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
I did, but i wouldnt have any idea how to figure out that thread, as we havent got thread gauges here But after hours and hours of searching last night, i've just found a post by foggy saying the b200 uses a 1/8npt (sender) to m14x1.5 (block) So i'll give this a butchers and see what we get. Also been looking for the sump plug thread to see if this sender will fit. I've also found some of these T Pieces you mentioned, so if i've got the wrong sender for the sumplug i'll stick it on a t piece with the pressure sender like you did Thomas..............Chris_C wrote:That'll be a question for the redblock boys tbh, 1/8 NPT is tiny though, it's what I used. Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
Hi all, just to let you know, i've got my sender fitted now. I bought one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300662167849? ... 1439.l2649
Its a 1/8NPT to M14x1.5 and i fitted at the back of the block to the right and down a bit of the fuel pump on my b14
And it went together, although i've got this little angle adaptor that came with my gauges.
Sorted Connected the warning light to it and that works fine. Just need to swap the sump plug over for the temp sender and then i can stick my gauges in Thomas..............

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
Hi Thomas.
Thats pretty cool work you have done. I also need a sump plug adaptor for an oil temp gauge
for my 360. Its a b19A engine. Don't know if the theads are the same.
Where did you get your sump adaptor?
Cheers Mark.

Re: Oil temp, pressure and volt meter gauges
I read somewhere on here that all the engines have the same sump plug, and looking at pictures of one and my sender they look the same, i wasnt 100% sure with the pressure sender adaptor but there was only one way to find out! So i'll just try mine and see what i get. I was told the set came from a 360 anyway so if it fits you should be all goodMCHUDD wrote:Hi Thomas.
