Safety Devices (iirc) mate, but they're a rip off imo at nearly £700 for a bolt in 6 point.

Then it needs welded together don't forget! Hence the reason I went for custom weld in. Assuming of course that's the one Pedersen Racing are dealers for too?

Yeah pedersons said they dont ship abroad so gave me the address of the cage manufacturer who would ship abroad :D

I've just added the two together and it comes to £481 shipped to the UK, now i call that a bargain :D

Aye, that's the fella. Unless you can weld yourself, I can and I wouldn't be keen to do a cage, though I may add triangulation to mine yet... then it will still work out very expensive once you pay somewhere to do it for you. That is if they are happy to touch a pile of pre-bent tube in the first place.

Not being a dick, just some of the things I considered before taking another route.

Nope, all information is needed as were trying to help the gezzer get a cage in the car :D Thats useful to know though, i wonder if you could get them to weld it together for you and pay a bit extra shipping?

If it comes pre-welded then it won't be able to be fitted in the car, and the cubic dimension driven price for the shipping would make your eyes water!

What i meant was having the rear half welded together like a normal bolt in cage, then all you'd have to do is weld the door bars in and bobs your uncle teds ya brother and you've got a cage :) haha i did think about postage costs, probably be half the final price in the end

Then weld spreader plates onto the tubs for the rear stays, weld in rear diag or X, box the sills front and rear, weld the front legs to the bits along the top that join it to the main hoop (forget name), add said door bars and a few other things. Not much work at all I agree.

May as well just have Custom Cages or Fabricage etc knock you up the tube if you want to self-assemble, or go somewhere that builds race car spaceframes/MSA stuff etc and have one made for your own car to your own specs. Best idea - well it was for me.

Oh yh, but then every bolt in cage as essentially the same as a weld in one, except, instead of just welding the tube to the spread plate, that weld a plate on the end of the tube and bolt it to the plate. So you've still got to weld in all the spreader plates and the like whether its weld or bolt in :) You dont have to run diagonals if its going in a road car/track day car, which im guessing it is as he wants it bolt in :)

I dunno. If it''s tight to the pillars etc then I don't think it would fit in the car easily if it came as say, a half cage with the rest to be assembled.
Not much cost effective choice out there imo.

FJ sold his SD cage to 340GLT (I think) on here a while ago, I remember he mentioned it to me and I said 'flog it man!' little did I realise, it was a 6pt affair, thought it was just a half cage. I see why he was in two minds now!

This makes me wonder, are you sure the £700 SD jobby wasnt including fitting? I mean its only about a days work to fit a cage if you know what your doing.

I don't think it was. I got in touch with some mainly Amazon Volvo place who were down as a dealer on the SD page iirc. That was the price after they added their percentage on. Don't think that was even posted!
To think that a couple of years ago my mate was moaning that his new OMP 6pt cost about £250 for his 205 GTi.
