Which model year?

Up to 1982MY the speakers where fitted ahead of the doors in the side of the footwell. 83MY onwards had them in the front doors, but the old mounting positions remained, so you can still stick them down there if you want. Those cut-outs are for 6" x 4" speakers, but the Volvo speakers from around 80/81 (maybe earlier) were 4" round speakers in a 6" x 4" frame.

83MY on you can get a fascia plate to fit a bog standard DIN sized unit. Same goes for the >82MY, but that is a different shape.

You need one of these :)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-340-360 ... 820wt_1270

A pair of these, which i have just installed in mine:

A pair of these to cover those:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260840122524? ... 1439.l2649

And then a headunit of your choice :)

I've just put some of those 4x8's in mine, as i found the holes for them while i was installing the newer style speakers in the door cards, so now i have 4 speakers in the front haha all running from an old blaupunkt cassette radio, old school epicness 8)

Original volvo speakers in the door cards:

4x6's in the location under the dash with grilles over them. The holes already there on both sides, all you gotta do is screw the speakers to the metal :D

And together

Hope this helps! Thomas..............

  Im afraid so  Its a picture of a car i believe its called 'trundle' off here. Was getting a 1.7turbo lump put in it when i last saw it change hands. That pic is from when it was running a valver lump. I just put my wheels on, which i may have got slightly out of proportion as they look like 15's when in actual fact there only 8x13's, and then i lowered to a reasonable height for epicness! Mine should look similar within a month or two depending on whether i pass my test :D Thomas...................

I only found those holes once I stripped the car and put it on the spit lol

Handy for a bit of music, shame they're not component sized.

On the MK3 you can put various aftermarket speakers in the doors without modification, but may have to do away with the grill covering. I think the Mk 3 still has the kick panel location if you want to use that aswell, but possibly more prone to water damage.

The saloon parcel shelf is an excellent place for 6x9", but it is designed for a smaller round speaker recessed in a square. You will find a circular section to cut/push out. Cutting around the square is tricky to get to ovals in, use a template for the hole and bolt locations if the speaker come with one. My Alpines are 7x10" on the covers and cover the recess nicely, the bolts hold it well and the boot makes a good bass amplifier.
