Fibreglass front end ( WHO WOULD BE INTERESTED )

Post by Bodyman » 14 Mar 2012 10:02 pm

Me and my buddy are in a position to start producing Fibreglass bits for sale.

My initial thoughts are the front panel, below the front bumper, moulded in fibreglass or Carbon Fibre. Could be molded with/without number plate plinth, with/without splitter.

Front wings - moulded in fibreglass or Carbon

Any other bits that you people would be interested in ?

The above bits shall be made regardless, for my car, thought i would throw a feeler out, since we have our own bodyshop, painting of the panels would also be offered.

Let me know some numbers and I'll get prices !

Free panels to anyone that can supply us with the original panels to mold from !
We are based in the Northwest near Wigan.

Mike & Mike !

There's been a thread like this before, but someone was trying to find a major company to supply stuff. Ended up being very expensive! I guess it depends on demand.

I've thought about making MK2 spoilers out of GRP before, as they're pretty rare, and the ones that exist are rubber and can perish pretty badly.

Benefit is once the moulds have been done, then only thing to do is lay up the stuff. I'd quite like a bonnet, as mine is rusting away rapidly, and heavy when the bonnet pins go in.

I like the idea of wings as well, as good ones are again getting hard to come by, and could be made with built in wide arches or something.

Bonnet is do able, would need a bonnet to cut up though.

It would be done as cheap as possible, not looking to retire on this just offering something back to the forum

I think bonnets (due to weight) would be a good seller as well as valances (due to rust).

I'd be interested in fibreglass bonnet, front wings, front valance, and maybe a rear hatch and 3dr doors :D But i'd especially like a front valance. Someone on here has just bought a brand new mk2 front panel, including valance off of ebay, perhaps you could get hold of them before they use it so you can get a perfect panel that hasnt been jiggled with to get it off the car? Bonnets and valances would be the best sellers imo :) Thomas......................

Rear hatch would be far from easy, would maybe have to use a polycarbonate window.

Is anyone going to step up and let us mold from their panels ?

Yes definately the offer of a free fibreglass panel from every panel you supply us with is still there!

I must say though, we're expecting about a 2 Month turn-around whilst we make the moulds, after that panels can be made to order in literally a week.
