speedo cable and speed sensor question.

Post by jon-ovlov » 06 Feb 2013 11:55 am

So my speedo cable has snapped, and when coming off the motorway it idles high. Now, surely if the speedo is reading zero as the cable isnt spinning, its telling the speed sensor its at zero , which should mean that the engine idles correctly? Ive checked the connections on the sensor and everything is fine.

I only ask as i want to solve the problem before the weekend. Just incase the replacement cable doesbt solve the problem or doesnt arrive in time, is there any way i can fool the ecu/speed sensor into thinking its doing 0mph?

Yes, you can bridge the connection at the speedo. Alternatively just switch the engine off and on again and it should return to idle.

which wires dude? I do the engine off/on at lights and driving round, but at anglesey it'll need to be working properly.

Depends on the noise of the system too, mine was registering a few mph when not moving due to picking up noise from elsewhere in the engine bay.

Diagnostic port?

I take it this is a non-standard modification? If so I need this modification since I am addicted to my MPG meter in my 940.

It uses it I think, but doesn't need it. Keeps the revs up when your moving in some circumstances (can't figure out what though). 360 Turbo guys havn't had a need for it.
