Heater...

Post by Minimike87 » 15 Feb 2013 10:32 am

Okay so in my 340 it’s had the f7p lump put in and, had a custom little heater thing made, and the fan and everything works but you don't get any heat through the vents.. i was investigating last night under the bonnet and found this:

(sorry not very clear picture)
Image

don't know if this is original or not? if its what i think it is my mini used to have something similar, like a little valve that can be shut and opened with a cable or something, could be this not opening and letting hot water through?

i haven't done the obvious yet and got it up to temp and felt each pipe (in/out) etc
but thought id just ask if anyone knew what it was?

Cheers
Mike

Looks to me to be the original cable operated heater valve.
Pic is noot too clear however.

The centre vents will never blow hot, they are designed to be cold so you can have a hot car and cool air on your face.

Yeah it should have a cable attached to it. As a temporary solution you could turn it to open but be warned that the heat will be intense if your matrix is working properly
