Any advice for my locked seat belts
Any advice for my locked seat belts
I have the seat belts from my 340 but they have not been in the car for sometime. I have not yet tried to re-install them because they are locked meaning the belts do not pull out from the mechanism however, they do retract but then it just make the belt smaller. So my question is, can they be fixed and get them back to working order. Any advice would be much appreciated.
It is for all seat belts front and back.
Thanks

Have you tried bombing the mechanism with crc or wd40 type solvent? brake cleaner?

Re: Any advice for my locked seat belts
Would I have to remove the plastic or just spray it all over
Re: Any advice for my locked seat belts
Neither... they have to be held dead vertical otherwise the inertia mechanism won't let any belt out. Try holding them at the same angle they are in the car (or bolting them in) then seeing if the same thing happens.

Re: Any advice for my locked seat belts
thats what I was goona say, they have to be vertical, they are meant to lock if the car goes upside down, they lock round corners, on angles.. anything but dead still and dead vertical and they should lock.
Re: Any advice for my locked seat belts
Thanks for all your help, however i will have to try(I'm going to put them back in the car to get the correct position) this later as I simply dont have the time today but i will let you know how it goes thanks

Re: Any advice for my locked seat belts
As Chris said, very tricky to get them to pull out when not in the car, you can do it but it's easier to put them in or at least hold them in position in the car to get the angle right.
