petrol guage not working?

Post by spike4073 » 31 May 2013 07:06 pm

ive just got my 340 back on the road after been stood for a little over a year,

just noticed today that the petrol guage reads as empty and the warning light is on when i know for a fact theres at least 10 litres in there?? ........... ive checked all the connections behind the instrument cluster and the needle on the guage its self isnt stuck so now im out of ideas..

anybody had this happen to them and/or know what causes this or how to fix???

cheers

If the fuel light is coming on it would suggest that the sender is working correctly but that perhaps the switch is permanently engaged. It says to me that there must be a physical problem with the float or float arm. Essentially it's stuck in the down (empty) position. My money would be on a leaky float but it could just be stuck.
