fitting a rev counter

Post by VagrootsDan » 10 Dec 2015 09:39 am

i have been searching to find a post about it, as i imagine there already is a few.

But i have a full set of clocks including a rev counter. how easy will it be to fit? as i only have a "time" clock in mine.
I'm hoping its plug and play, or do I need to start running new cables?

Thanks

Steering wheel off
Two screws in the top of the gauge cluster (holds a black metal retaining strip in)
Pop the the black pins out of the trim above the pedals so you can reach up and disconnect the speedo cable from the back
Pull the gauge cluster out
Screws or nuts hold gauge cluster together, remove them and fit the rev counter
Put it all back together

The PCB has the pins for all the gauges as it saves them money when building them to do just one PCB rather than multiple ones.

The knurled knob for the speedo cable tends to break when you unscrew it ... be very gentle with it and you might get it off in one piece :-)

If you want to replace the clock, rev counter cars had a seperate one fitted to the blanking plate next to the ashtray. Keep an eye out on the bay ... or I'm sure someone here has one.

Cheers
