Lots of things faulty electrical stuff, energy audits, tyre inflation optimising, filtering the Ebola infected, finding invisible aliens, checking the pizza's cooked, vampire detection oh and finding out if the dog was on the sofa before I came home (assuming she hoovered up the hairs).

Had it for a while now, always wanted one. Flir One for android, Plugs into your phone or tablet and combines visible images with thermal (because of the crap resolution).

Sounds awesome. Indeed from looking at the strut top-nut, I never knew that infra-red could be reflected, but, of course, its only light and there seems to be quite a wide and extensive literature on this very subject.

Yes 'emmissivity" does affect the reading. Most glazing is reflective and opaque with a thin metal coating. Emmisivity is variable from black to Shiny/white, surfaces generally reflect IR and invisible stuff like hot gas does not emit anything, so I think IR video of the news reporter farting is a fake. Hot bodies like the human body cast a plume of IR light that reflects of most things.

Thanks! This thread is a goldmine!

It appears that everything is back as it should! I did give the connector a bit of a clean out too. :)
