Hi!

I have a -90 Volvo 340GL and my milometer (total km driven) has been stuck at 68k for the last few months and I'd like to get it fixed before the next yearly mandatory checkup. I've read the guide on how to fix the meter itself, but I couldn't find a way to get the meter out of the instrument panel.

I remove the four black plastic holders and the plastic cover under the instrument panel falls loose, but I am not able to remove it because the choke adjuster (don't know the actual term) is on the way and the knob on the end of the adjuster bar is too big to fit the hole in the plastic cover. Is there some correct way of removing the plastic cover or the choke adjuster bar? I have no access to any maintenance books, since there is none for sale where I live.

Hello, the choke knob will unscrew with some effort.

Do you mean the black plastic knob will unscrew from the metal bar or the whole thing unscrews from the base? Just to be sure since I don't want to break anything.

the black plastic knob unscrews, use a pair of pillars to hold the metal wire still

You mainly need to remove the 2 screws above the instruments, not sure its entirely necessary to remove the lower cover, but maybe easier to remove the 2 multi plugs.

That's right... The instrument panel tips out when you have disconnected the speedometer cable. I think its easier if you take the steering wheel off.
