Windshield washing fluid tank suddenly empties itself

Post by sssu1 » 28 Jan 2017 07:01 pm

So my Volvo 340GL 1990 has a problem with the windshield washing fluid tank. After fully filling it with washing fluid and spraying some on the windshield 4-5 times, the tank suddenly empties itself. The fluid drains down towards the front of the car from under the tank.

Is there some switch or knob or something that I should close or turn or something, or is it just broken? While it is full it doesn't leak, and there are no visible cracks on the tank.

Perhaps a hose connection has come loose.

Bests for now, bogs.

+1 on checking the pump to know if it went bad or not.

I had this recently, mine only emptied to the seal where the pump inserts into the tank so it was easy to find. I removed the pump, removed the small o-ring type seal. Sprayed clean with contact cleaner and applied silicon o-ring grease and reassembled, been fine ever since. give that a shot
