1986 340 1.6DL Fusebox - What fuse is for what?
Does anybody know what fuse is for what in the fusebox for a '86 1.6DL? Mine is the old type which doesn't use spade fuses, and unfortunately the casing isn't marked, and the Haynes manual is completely useless as regards this fusebox.

Have you tried looking in the cars owners manual?
It normally has a page linking the numbers on the fuse box to their purpose.
That is offcourse if you have an owners manual of your car.

Unfortunately I don't have the original owners manual, I have a Haynes manual, but unfortunately it's completely wrong for my fusebox.

Here's the fusebox, I plan to replace it with one with spade type fuses down the line, but knowing what the fuses are for would be a good start.

there is not a 300 series fusebox that uses spade type not to my knowledge anyway looks like that fuse box is in need of repairWanderer wrote:

All of the electrics on this car are just plain nasty.
I'm thinking a spade type fuse box out of just about anything with 20+ fuses will do the job, keeping the car 100% original isn't in my list of worries, the previous owners have already made that one simpler by bodging everything. Thanks for the link, that'll make things alot easier.

Re: 1986 340 1.6DL Fusebox - What fuse is for what?
people on here and the facebook group will have spare fuse boxes, the wiring in and out of the fuse box is more complicated than you may think, it is possible to open them up and clean them up.
this might well be the best and easiest route to go is to just replace the box?

Replacing the box with an original one is a possibility - although a box with spade type fuses would be nice. I'll have to actually remove it and see what a complicated job it would be to wire a box from another car in.
My Volvo is home to wonderful electric bodgery such as glow plugs heated by a button mounted on the dash. To be honest a trashed donor car with a decent wiring loom and electrical parts would be incredibly useful.
