Looking to remove the blower unit from the engine bay to give better access to my leaky heater control valve.
Looks easy enough according to Haynes but I can't find the 3rd screw which is apparently inside the car ? I have found the two screws at the bulkhead but where is the 3rd screw located ? (Probably this is where an easy job gets tricky !!)

Sorry, only ever removed the cover.

No probs, the cover itself looks fiddly with the various small metal clips. Visions of clips snapping or pinging off and getting lost...!
Apparently its just 3 screws and disconnect the vacuum pipe for the heater control and the plug for the fan.

Got the blower unit removed tonight with relative ease. There are two large screws to the bulkhead, and down inside the duct there is a 10mm nut/stud. Remove these and the whole unit can be carefully pulled away. Pull the vacuum tube off and disconnect the fan plug and manouvre the unit around the heater control valve cable. Once removed it gives great access to the heater valve and also handily the crank sensor which I was going to replace soon. See pics below.
Any information on the heater matrix filter and foam gaskets would be appreciated....I doubt these are available and will have to be made.


View of the 10mm stud inside the air duct, obvious when you see it. The stud becomes loose and may fall out the bulkhead when removed. I stuck a rag inside in case the nut fell down.

What sort of material could this be replaced with, or is it not worth the hassle ? I am going to hoover out the remains either way.


Blower unit, I assume the rubber part on the bottom is some sort of drain ? This has a split in it....
