WHat drivers seats fit a volvo 360

Hey guys, this is my first post, my name is Michael im from Australia

I am a tall guy and want to buy a volvo 360. I fit OK, but would fit much better if the trademark 'high driving position' that the volvo has was removed. I am wondering if there is a seat that I can put in that will be lower so that my knees dont hit the steering wheel

You won't really get any lower without using a bucket with little padding and compromising comfort. Best bet would probably be to remove the metal sections that the seat mounts to and then make new ones, would just need some box section welded to the floor

I don't want to be pointing out the obvious or anything, but would a smaller steering wheel help? I was surprised how much more room you get with a wheel that's got a 1" smaller diameter.

Yeah sorry, was a bit brief as I was at uni, if you've never removed the carpet you probably wouldn't know what I was on about. Hopefully this will help show you:

These bits are just spot welded in place so i'd guess either a lot of prising with a large screwdriver or more likely a job for the angle grinder, just grind through the spots. Then you'll need two box sections of metal, the length of the runners on the seat. Weld those to the floor, then drill holes in them for the runners to bolt to.

The other thing you could possibly do is remount it further back.

I like both of those ideas, thanks guys. I would have to get a crash repairer or someone qualified to do the welding as I cant do it myself, and it seems like a pretty important piece of the structure...

Then again, if those box sections are just spot welded to the floor then I figure that a good hard weld would be stronger?

It's not that difficult to weld something stronger than the stock stuff.. but if you want the extra insurance, I would also connect the box sections to the sides and centre tunnel since the floor itself is a bit wobbly.
I have often seen spot welded seat mounts come loose on 80's cars, i doubt you could do much worse if you layed down some seam welds.
