Weird electric happenings
Hello
Well basically, nothing on my dash is working... rev counter, lights, fuel gauge nothing and also when I turn on the headlights, the clock light and ash tray light doesnt come off, but when the lights are off they come on, and when the glove box is open it comes on. It happend I think after I TRIED to fit a cd player, but failed, I cut the wires from the connector block to connect them to another but it never happend, the wire colours are green, brown x2, and black and red x2, i think... anybody shed light on how the heck I get this working again, Ill probally have to sort this out when I come back off holiday but would like to get some idea how to sort it now so I can crack on when I get back.
Thanks
Matthew

If you reach up behind the dash console and feel about you'll find 2 big white multiplug connectors - try seating these properly in their sockets. You can do this with the steering wheel on - but it's a lot easier to get look at it all with it off - you'll need a deep 24mm socket to go the easy route

Ask the obviose have you made sure you reconnected the wires properly you cut. Or if simply just diconnected them from the old radio is there a chance they couly be shorting?

Ill make sure the two block connecters are connected well, and about connecting the wires back up to the old tape player, thats pretty difficult as I dont have the either the block connector or the radio as it never had one, ive taped up the wire ends so they cant be shorting out and sure them being in a block connector would be the same as being loose?
The wires that you cut would be a green live, two brown grounds and the red and black are speaker wires. I think they're on the same fuse as the heater blower system and I very much doubt they're the source of your problem. Unless at one point the wires accidentally shorted and melted something somewhere.
Sorry I can't be of more use, I still can't work out why my brake light's not working.

Well everything is connected up ok, but I have found a brown and green wire that go into a block connector and are not plug into anything, Ive spend the day searching for the problem, the dash and all of its components are now in the back of the car. Any ideas on this? Could a blown fuse cause this. Im stumped and dont have a clue what to do...
